A Reddit user shared a recent incident on the AITA thread. In the post, he mentioned how difficult it has been for him to work from home. His wife and twin toddlers couldn’t help in providing a peaceful working environment. OP added that due to a lack of space in his smallish residence he doesn’t have a home office, which makes his working hours hard. They only have enough room for the four to live.

As time passed and work increased, the noises started bugging him. OP tried to explain to his family about this issue he was facing. According to him, the family didn’t show their full support to his needs. He mentioned that he still hears a few unnecessary noises in the house.

As he saw how the family didn’t care about his needs, he got fed-up. The anger started to bottle up. Then, he burst into flames and told his wife how hard he was working to keep this family fed. That they could give him a peaceful space to work from, that’s the least they can do for him.

OP further added that it was his wife’s choice to be a stay at home mother. So it’s her duty to keep kids controlled and silent. He also added that his wife would ask him to do the chores around the house even when he wasn’t working from home. OP’s wife would ask him to look after the kids after he came from work and needed some time to relax.

OP was so stuck on the fact that he was told to work around the house and look after the kids on his off days. The couple argued about this many times, but his wife always shot him down by saying that they are his responsibilities too.OP added that even after many quarrels about this problem, his wife wouldn’t understand the situation.

OP’s excuses to not do his chores around the house got his wife’s anger to a point where she just never backed down in an argument. He further mentioned that this disagreement wasn’t the worst part. OP’s wife claimed that his hard work and efforts were appreciated.

To this situation at hand, he needed the views of fellow Reddit users. One user commented against him on how he underappreciated the wife. Further, the user added that he gets breaks from his paid job, but his wife doesn’t get any. He suggested OP for investing in a pair of noise-canceling headphones.

Another user bashed that even the office workspace is not 100% quiet in the user experience. He added that he should revaluate how to treat his family. One user came in support of OP and said he understood the pain OP faced.

Some users suggested that they should quit fighting and start looking for solutions. He added that OP should stop fixating on gender-specific roles. The couple should soundproof the apartment. Another user pointed out that they both were at fault. They should divide the responsibilities. As OP didn’t respect her job as a mother, she also ignored that working 40/hours is tiring. It’s the job of both parents to look after their kids.
