This Woman Reveals The True Side Of Social Media After A “Pool Day” Incident
Moms love to take their children out for a pool day once in a while when the weather is in one’s favor. There are kids playing around the pool in cute swimsuits and their moms overlooking them. Moms indulge in some fun activities too with the children. It’s a pleasant outing!
Jen Flint, a mom witnessed a “strange” occurrence at the public swimming pool she was at. She decided to write all about it on her Facebook post.
Flint noticed a woman with her little daughter at the pool who was more focused on her phone than spending time with her daughter. That’s the impact of social media has on people!
This was not all, Flint observed many weird instances in this case. As the mother-daughter duo entered the pool area, they looked perfect in every sense. They were wearing matching swimsuits which is definitely cute. However, things are not always what they look like!
She wrote in her post, “The mom, with her perfect loose curls tied up in a coordinating scarf, spent the first few minutes talking loudly on her phone to a friend while her daughter stood waiting to get into the pool.”
After disconnecting the call, this mom started to set up the pool day essentials on a towel. The pool toys were out along with the sunscreen and other required stuff. Sounds perfect, right?
This mom did not waste another minute and quickly gathered the equipment for a photo session with her daughter. A pool day is incomplete without some pictures on your social media. That’s what we can conclude from some recent trends!
The posing and clicking were not ending anytime soon for this mum. The daughter wanted to get the experience of the pool and swimming, but she had to wait until her mom was satisfied with the photo shoot. It took a while!
Flint further wrote, “Little one smiled big and said ‘cheese’ like she’d done it a million times. Then Mama told her she could play.”
The little girl was having fun in the water and the mom was least interested in that. She had her eyes glued to her phone for the longest time. The daughter wished to have her mother by her side in the pool and the requests made by the little one were shrugged off.
When did the phone and social media updates become important than spending valuable time with your child?
In her post, Flint continued, “After 10 minutes, Mama ended her call, collected the sunscreen that was never applied, the water toys that never touched the water, and then her daughter and left the pool.”
The pool day ended on a good note for the mom, we guess! She must have posted those pictures on her account and received hundreds of likes.
Flint contemplated this whole situation and wondered about the influence of social media on the lives of people. This is not a “perfect” parent life. The reality is something else.
A messy house, heaps of laundry and unwashed dishes is the reality of a home with kids. Moms know all the struggles of managing their homes and kids simultaneously.
Flint described the real scenario in her post and wrote how another mom must feel on encountering “dreamy” photos online. She wrote, “She’s going to look at that photo and she is going to compare herself to the perfect Mama at the pool.”
We need to take a little time off the “fake” world and step into reality. Comparisons won’t take us anywhere except disrupting our peace of mind!
