Reddit Bashes A Mum For Feeding Her Infant During An Interview

Womanhood July, 02, 2025

The OP tried to explain the situation she was facing. She mentioned that after a successful telephonic interview round around the time of March, she was called for a face to face interview round. OP applied for a position in a childcare facility. OP was unable to make arrangements for the baby to stay on the day of the interview. So the OP decided to take her infant son with her.

Further, she wrote that she had made sure that the interviewer knew about this before she brought her son. On the day of the interview, she arrived all prepared with child supplies.

But then her son started fussing in-between her turn with the facility director. The OP requested the director to let her feed her hungry child for the moment. OP asked if she could feed him some solids instead of breastfeeding him.

The interviewer gave her a strange look and asked her if it can be dealt with after they are finished here. To this OP politely replied that her son needs her right now and she would like to feed him first. Further, she wrote that the director mentioned that they do not have a place to feed her baby moreover they don’t have any food a baby can eat.

OP tried to clarify her request by adding that she had brought the food herself. Op just asked for some time in which she could feed her son and be back to continue the interview. Whereas the director still asked for her to deal with the situation after the interview was over.

Op smirked and asked the director to explain the situation to her son assuming she would be able to do it. But Op doubted and said when babies are hungry they are needed to be fed. The director agreed to interview other candidates first and she was told that she can have this time to take care of the child.

As there was no place to put the car seat and feed the baby, she sat on the floor in the lobby. She then took the baby back to the car and changed him in the back of her car. She managed to do the needful and returned for the interview. As soon as she reached back to the waiting area, she was called back in to continue from where she left.

To this, some people reacted and told her it was wrong to do so. One commented that he had never hired someone who brought their kid to the interview. If the person doesn’t have child care it might interfere with their work schedule. Another called her condescending but also extremely unprofessional. He added that she had months to come up with an arrangement. One User rose a query of why the Op didn’t feed the baby before going in for the interview.
