Mom’s Rant About ‘Ridiculous’ School Email Left People Divided

Parenting July, 15, 2025

In their defense, the management explains that they are willing to understand the human desire to want some unbothered and work exclusive environment to enjoy domestic bliss with free mind. Catering to this demand of faculty, management came up with this novel rule to reach out to teachers during assigned timings of 8:30am in morning to 5:30 late in evening. Contact is discouraged on weekends, holidays or later in evening.

This intricate rule became the cause of frustration for a section of parents who are working in the same hours which have been made available for queries. Parents question the validity of this new rule by explaining that time is scarce for them and they use weekends or free time between work to post a genuine query on mail.

The mother, particularly disappointed with this new addition in feedback system of the school, took it to ‘mumsnet ’to validate her opinion and gather attention and awareness over this issue. She made several arguments, primarily thrusting on her daytime job which puts limitation of social media/phone usage for personal matters. Even though she is restricted due to this, she wishes in the least to lose on interaction with teachers due to this policy. It will potentially endanger quality education experience for her daughter.

She publicly denounced the management over this policy and labelled it as ‘ridiculous’. Her evocative arguments drew attention of several other parents are well, who made some very logical points to support her idea. More than 700 parents hurriedly rose to her support by giving an account of their overbooked schedules and their struggles to manage bare minimum time to mail the teachers, some of them mail late in evening after getting off work or the first thing in the morning while leaving for work.

The mother emphasized that she was respectful of boundaries set by teachers and does not expect a prompt reply from them but still wishes to be able to send the mails even if they go unchecked. She makes sure to mention that no mails were to be sent during unreasonable hours that create any menace to teacher folk. Distressed by this entire situation she morally questions her thinking and asks the internet to validate and support her claims.

One parent explains how email is an electronic mail, where sender send mail when they can and the receiver responds when they see it, it is normal to respond the next day after working hours resume. They are sensitive and understand it is not always possible to respond right away and happily give that concession, mentioning this point repeatedly. Another parent emphasized that teachers ignore the mails and not answer them out of work hours and just let them sit unread, she feels unread mails shouldn’t be that intrusive and intruding of their privacy.

A final user throws an assertive statement in face of management expressing complete denial of new policy by saying they themselves work in a school and still find this rule ‘ridiculous’.
