Taylor McGuffey’s baby shower was expected to happen on March 21 in Oxford, Alabama but it got canceled due to the social distancing rules. However, when new social distancing guidelines were obtained by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, everyone was ready to reorganize the event. Unfortunately, Taylor’s employment at a doctor’s office also got terminated. After such incidents, it became necessary to give Taylor a chance to cheer up once again.

As told by Taylor’s cousin by marriage, Stefanie McGuffey, the family members planned it on March 27 and it was set for March 29. They organized it in the form of a “drive-thru” baby shower. While Taylor was sitting with her husband and son Jase on their lawn, a “parade” of cars showed up.

Stefanie kept taking photos of Taylor’s family and the guests coming in. They all drove up to wish the family. To follow the social distancing rules, friends and family members had decorated the back of an SUV where the guests could keep their gifts. Moreover, there were 20 cars in this “parade”. The church parking lot was made the staging area where all the guests could drop all their gifts.

Taylor’s son wondered if this was a kind of “parade”, so he kept waving at every car passing by. Besides initially, Taylor and her husband had no idea about this event. This surprise left the family flabbergasted with the gifts inundating from everywhere. All these pictures were shared by Stefanie herself on her Facebook photography page, Stefanie McGuffey Photo.

Stefanie admitted: “We love them so much. They are seriously the most genuine and sweet people you’ll ever meet.” She added: “They all honked their horns, yelled, and waved as they drove by. One person would get out of the vehicle at a time to drop their gift off, then they got back into the car and left.”

The pictures got several likes as this idea has been loved by many. One person told that his son and daughter-in-law are expecting a child, their baby shower was initially scheduled on April 25. However, it was canceled but now, this “virtual” or a “drive-by” shower can be a great idea.

Someone called this idea as the “coolest expression of true friendship and love.” on the contrary, some people also had queries because the guests had touched the gifts before leaving the place. But doesn’t worry, McGuffeys had properly applied disinfectants before unwrapping them all.

Stefanie added that she had genuinely liked this idea of sharing love and support. She hopes that it would also be further implemented even after everything gets back to ‘normal’.
