Mom Of 16 Carries Sign To Tell Customers She’s Not Hoarding

Lifestyle July, 01, 2025

Tough times, like the present one, add to the agonies of the large families. The head of the family has to toil hard to build a budget and meet the needs of every member. Thus, it is not a rare thing to find people over-loading their shopping cart around. However, some of the spectators cross the line by thinking them nothing less than a hoarding drive. A mother named Jeni Bonell lived some of these disgruntling moments as she went ahead to shop for her big family.

Jeni from Queensland enjoys the privilege of having 16 kids in the range of 4 years and 29 years. The mother has to spend a big chunk of her day in planning for her shopping spree keeping in mind the needs of her kids. She has to expend a lot of energy not just in making the big list but also pushing the over-loading shopping cart. However, her shopping spree was not all about the shopping bliss. She had to tolerate the raging eyes targeting her cart.

With COVID-19 making its way around, things started to turn worse for her. One woman went ahead to accuse her of hoarding stuff in the hard times back in March. Brushing aside the allegations, the mother took to blog post to justify her act citing her big family size. To her dismay, the brutal hearts did not stop pouring out their disgust. Sensing the severity of the situation around the world, the woman decided to tackle the charges playfully.

Jeni made a note saying, “Not hoarding, just feeding 16 kids. Be kind or go away please”. Then, she went to put it on her shopping cart to disseminate the message as she shopped around. Taking a picture of the cart with the note, the woman shared the moment on her Instagram account. The mother hoped to see a sign of relief in the heavy air. Her post soon took the centre stage and turned around many minds. They came up to applaud and bolster her stance.

Thus, the mother managed to succeed to some extent. However, she also kept in mind the presence of people with evil looks. Taking on that part, she shared, “mean people will always be mean so you can’t stop them”. Adding to that, she said, “Mainly we just get the judgy looks and the mumbling under their breath as they walk past”.

Not just her over-flowing cart but her family size had also made her face some sharp opprobrium. She attacked that thinking by saying they are “abundantly blessed”.

Hopefully, her words would ease it out for her.
