Mom Faces Backlash For Turning A Cupboard Into A Bedroom For Her Toddler
Sofie King is the mother of a 19-month-old son and lives in a one-bedroom apartment which has limited space. So, in order to make space for her toddler, she decided to take the door off a cupboard to make a small room for her son. She used the low shelf as a bed and stacked his toys on the shelves above.
She later revealed that she did the entire room makeover in lockdown and it cost her $161.
Sofie posted a video of her 19-month-old toddler exploring the space and searching for his toy collection on Facebook. Elaborating about her lockdown DIY project, she wrote: “We live in a one-bedroom flat and have this space which is a cupboard! I know it’s small, so I took off the door, but he’s comfy sleeping in there! (Mummy and Daddy’s room is right next door). He’s 19 months and so independent! Everything in this room has been given or gifted for us! We managed to complete this bedroom for a grand total of $161! Everything included!”

She further said that it was not perfect but it was exactly what she wanted. She informed the viewers that she was proud of herself and would welcome any new suggestions or ideas for the cool Toy Story themed décor. Requesting the readers to not leave negative comments on her post she wrote, “Please no negative Karen’s on this post!”
The post garnered hundreds of likes and comments in a short span of time. One person acted concerned about the layout of the room and wrote, “How can you call someone a ‘Karen’ for having common sense I don’t know. Let’s hope the poor sod doesn’t bang his head or nothing falls on him.”
Replying to the positive feedback she received, she edited her post and said that she was grateful for the positive feedback. But for the Karen who decided to comment on the shelves above the bed, she said that those were low shelves. Furthermore, she said that she was cautious of those shelves and she would take out the bottom one soon.
Other people found the layout of the room to be perfect the shelves aren’t any more dangerous than when children sleep in bunk beds.
Another person encouraged her by writing that she has done a brilliant job of making a beautiful space. She advised her to ignore the negative comments and told her that her little one looked happy and that was all that mattered.
Sofie said in an interview that it cost her $161 because many of the items were gifted by others and the carpet was brand new from her mother’s house. Besides, she purchased the paint online with which she painted her house.
