Men Annoy Partners With ‘Selective Hearing’
Attention plays a vital role in every relationship. It binds souls together and its absence can render everything in shatters. Grabbing this fact, Scrivens Hearing Care conducted a study to find the extent of selective hearing in relationships. The results of the study are doing the rounds across the world.
Scrivens Hearing Care took in 2000 adults of U.K. to lay down the foundations of their study. Adults shared their part of the story on selective hearing of the partners. According to them, it is not odd to see their partners ignoring their talks and them. 75% of the adults admitted to the selective hearing problem of their partners.
The poll-conducting agency compiled the elements that the adults revealed about their relationships. After getting done with the compilation of the survey, Scrivens shared the results with the world. According to its study, men go for selective hearing 7 times per week. The figure is 388 times in a year for them. On the other hand, women ignore their partner for 339 times in a year.
Well, it is not an easy-to-go fact. Senior hearing aid audiologist at Scrivens named Kirran Saimbi has brought the gloomy facet of selective hearing. According to her, selective hearing can take a turn for worse and can signal hearing loss. Taking on that part, she shared, “Most of us will have experienced ‘selective hearing’ – either being the accused or the accuser. But joking aside, ‘selective hearing’ could be a sign of hearing loss. Left ignored, hearing loss can lead to isolation, depression and there is evidence of a link with dementia”.
Out of the 2000 adults, 40% of them admitted to the fact that their partners suffer from hearing loss whereas more than 50% of the survey adults pointed to the fact with hesitation. They were not sure about it. But they believed it to be the case with their partners to some extent. Adding to that fact, she said that problems develop with time and most of the people take it on a lighter note.
Shedding light on that part, she shared, “The changes in our hearing are often so subtle and happen over time, that it can be very hard for us to notice the impact it’s having on our lives and those around us. That’s why regular hearing checks are so important. The earlier we can seek help for hearing loss the better, as it can prevent common side-effects such as social withdrawal and depression”.
In the end, she concluded, “Whether or not we suspect our hearing isn’t as good as it used to be, regular hearing checks are a good way of monitoring our ear health”.
So sensitive hearing is an evil in disguise which can pave the way to many precarious problems. Hence, people need to come up and go to hearing check-ups.
Hopefully, people will grab this fact and shield themselves from the pending emotional and health disasters in their life.
