‘Infertility’-Pains Of A Man Brought Out A Book For Children
Parenthood is a dream come true for many toiling souls in the world. Age and other complexities stalk them and rob them of their chance to bring their little nuggets in this world. Thanks to the advancement of science, they are looking up to IVF to win some pearls of joy. One of these happy couples is Dale and Marie Neal.
Dale and Marie tied the knot in 2010 after seeing each other for ten years. They longed to start the new chapter of life- parenthood. They tried hard for some years but could not succeed. The debacles of their efforts pushed them to see the experts. After undergoing some tests, they got to know that Marie had lost the power to conceive due to her menopause at the age of 36. After grabbing the bitter truth, they started to look for the other options.
Finally, they came across the option of taking up IVF. But to their dismay, Marie reached the mark of 40 years then. They lost the privilege to take up IVF under the NHS.
The couple faced the wrath of misfortunes bravely. Grappling with the shocks, they decided not to lose hope and worked hard to shell the cost out of their pockets.
With pounding hearts, they underwent first IVF in 2012. That not only marked the beginning of IVF struggles of the couple but also Dale’s writing spree. The barber used to have sleepless nights with his mind wandering in the lanes of the complexities. To pour out his pain and relive his nerves, he started penning down some stories and poems for children.
His passion for writing bolstered up as they underwent four failed IVF attempts, three ectopic pregnancies and two miscarriages. Their efforts made them foot a whopping bill of $60000 out of their pockets. Not just that, they also had to make way to Prague for their final stage treatments.
Finally, the angel of bliss smiled over them. Marie conceived their daughter- Essie in December 2017. The couple crossed their fingers and kept prayers in their minds. To their delight, their prayers reached heaven. It answered them back in the form of their little daughter in August 2018. Marie gave birth to a healthy Essie who weighed 7lbs 13oz.
The parents were over the moon. Dale thought to celebrate the arrival of his daughter by becoming an author for children writings. He published the work-“My Socks Have Gone Bonkers” that he wrote during their struggles. He wanted to present his work to his daughter when she would grow up. However, the man is not yet ready to leave his 30-year career of a barber.
Taking on their days of struggle, he said, “A few years ago we were in a really dark place, we’d spent most of our money and things were looking like they weren’t going to work. I had no reason to think I was going to be published and we were becoming more and more helpless with trying to get pregnant”.
Finally, the couple can take sighs of relief.
