Dad Drove 1000 Miles To Wish His Daughter Personally On Her Birthday

Relationships July, 07, 2025

53-year-old, realtor Julio Cesar Segura made a 17-hour road journey so that he could wish his daughter personally on her 19th birthday. He started from his home in El Paso, Texas, and drove to Austin, Texas. He clocked one side of the journey which timed up to eight and a half hours.

His daughter, Diana Segura Lerma, was born on May 8, and every year he has lunch with her. This year was also no different for him. Despite the pandemic, he traveled for a total of 1,152 miles from his home to wish his daughter and have lunch with her.

Diana knew that his dad would be sending her birthday lunch because every year they go out for lunch on her birthday. But she had no clue that his dad had been planning to visit her on her birthday. Because of the global pandemic, she was happy with the fact that her father remembered her birthday and did something for the traditional lunch.

Her father simply called to ask what she wanted to have on her birthday and told that he would send her birthday lunch through Uber Eats from Chick-fil-A. little did she knew that her dad was going to personally deliver the birthday lunch to her.

Diana shared: “He told me that since he couldn’t do much he wanted to know what I’d like for lunch and he would send an Uber Eats order. I texted him what I wanted – the chicken fillet sandwich with pepperjack cheese, buffalo sauce and mayonnaise. He brings me that sandwich for lunch on my birthday every year – so far he hasn’t missed a year.”

Julio shared “I left my house at 4.15am. I was missing her and I wanted to give her a surprise. I decided to go the day before. I love her and I wanted to make sure she had a good birthday.”

When Diana went to receive her birthday lunch she was shocked to see her dad instead of the delivery guy. She shared “He showed up with the food and a poster board and balloons. I was so excited. I haven’t seen him in months, since winter break. I didn’t think that I would see him again until August. He has always been someone who loves gestures, but I never imagined he would do this in a pandemic.”

Because of the global pandemic, the father-daughter duo followed the social distancing guidelines and sat outside the house to have the birthday lunch. Her father made sure that they have their traditional birthday lunch but sitting several feet away. After 30 minutes or so her father hit back the road for his long journey back home. The only regret that Diana had was that she could not hug her dad.
