Bride Uses IKEA Bag To Prevent Wedding Dress From Being Ruined

Womanhood July, 04, 2025

Generally, wedding gowns are very bulky on the bottom and are of white color which causes a lot of problems to brides particularly if they have to use the washroom. To keep a high-priced, elegant white dress perfectly clean for the whole wedding different brides take different steps. Commonly, brides take their closest friend to the washroom to get help. But if someone prefers to use the washroom alone, Tina, a-bride-to-be came up with a solution.

Tina shared images of her innovative idea, using an IKEA bag to keep her wedding dress dirt-free and dry whenever she used a washroom on her wedding day. She was applauded by a lot of people for sharing her creative idea. She also provided step-by-step guidelines, with pictures on how to make this IKEA blue bag a gown savior during bathroom breaks. She mentioned things needed for this purpose. All we need is an IKEA Frakta blue bag and a pair of scissors.

She showed an image in which she told how to fold the bag and cut a hole in the middle of the bag-but not too big. Tina explained: “Careful: The hole must not be too big. It is better to cut a smaller hole and to enlarge it a bit later. It must be close to your body if you want it to work! I have large hips; DO NOT take my measurements as an example. Each body is different.” To get an idea of whether to make the hole larger or not, one has to stand inside the bag, she wrote.

Then she told about the shoulder strap test and continued “Put the large handles on your shoulders. If your hips do not fit through the hole, enlarge it a little bit. Again: just a bit! Your hips need to fit in the hole, but the closer the bag is to your body, the better.” Tina suggested that it is best to try the bag while wearing the dress. The motive of this little “hack” is to collect the whole dress around the waist of the bride so that she does not have to worry about the fabric spreading all over the place.

She wrote “Simply step inside the bag, your feet in the hole. You don’t need to remove your shoes! Pay attention to step in the hole, not in the bag if you don’t want to have a dirty wedding dress. Take the bottom of your dress and put it in the bag — all of it. Place the larger handles on your shoulders. You can also if you prefer, ask someone to just help you put the dress inside the bag and to leave you alone after.”

Tina concluded her post by sharing a picture showing her using the bag trick, on her wedding day. Now brides can apply Tina’s effective method of bridal gown care and use washrooms freely on their wedding day, without involving someone else to look after our dress.
