A Simple Tweet Made This Donut Shop Famous
Satharith and family had a donut shop running for 24 years. They bolted that shop to meet the financial condition of the house which emerged because of Nakry’s unsound condition. When her condition improved, they decided to open the shop again.
Satharith opened Billy’s donut shop in Missouri city which is about a 30-minute drive from Houston. On the inauguration day, he expected the crowd to flood in the shop to buy his donuts. But things didn’t go as per his expectations.
The shop was named after By’s sweet son Billy. Billy came by visiting the shop but when he saw the sad face of his father on the most special day of his life, he realized that something needs to be done.

Billy tweeted about the shop and requested them to visit it once. He posted the picture of the sad face of his father and the shop full of donuts. Certainly, the donuts were looked delicious. He added the address of the donut shop to help the interested people to reach there.
Billy knew that social media is always up for free publicity. Nonetheless, the response he got was overwhelming. Around 350,000 people retweeted his tweet and almost 700,000 people liked his post. Even Houston magazine editor Timothy Malcolm shared the post on his timeline. Billy’s Donut became famous in one night.
It shouldn’t be a big deal to sell donuts for Satharith if the marketing was done properly. No one knew about the shop and no one had ever tasted the donut. Humans have this tendency to believe what he had experienced or heard. Both things were missing at Satharith shop. Twitter gave him the publicity he wanted.
Billy kept the track of the retweets. The message spread in the local region as well. Billy expected a huge crowd. He informed his father to make lots of donuts. Everyone had their hands-on deck and were ready for anything. Satharith made lots of donuts as per his son’s expectations. But little did he knew what was going to happen the next day.
Things went pretty hectic on Sunday. There was crowd flooding in. Satharith had to ask for his wife Nakry’s help. While he was busy in the backyard making donuts, Nakry was busy taking orders. They tried their best not to keep the customers waiting.
On Sunday eve, Billy tweeted to thank the followers and stated that they were able to sell all the donuts and kalochas. Kalochas are special kinds of pastry originated in Europe which is usually filled with cherry and fruits. In Billy’s donut, people could find it filled with meat.
Twitter only helped in the free publicity of the store. Billy donut also got a celebrity appeal when “Queer Eye” star Karamo Brown mentioned about visiting the donut shop.
