Woman Runs A ‘Military-Style’ Home School & Every Hour Is Planned

Lifestyle July, 12, 2025

The Peterborough woman started to home-school her kids with military patterns. This educational boot camp called ‘School of Mum’ includes Helen’s 3 kids as students- Leo (11) and Twins Florence and Orlando (6). And they surprisingly love this strict schedule. In her interview, Helen revealed that 2 weeks ago she was almost out of reading and writing habits. As a full-time National Marketing Manager, she is an expert in creating systems and routines in a well-structured manner.

She now works at home as a copywriter and ensures that she’s strict with whatever schedule has been decided for the day. As soon as schools were announced off, Helen made sure her kids who’re in grade 6 and 1 respectively didn’t take any advantage of the situation. Thus, she began her systematized planning. These kids not just attend classes like a normal school day but are also fed and dressed accordingly.

Today my School of Mum has hit the press! ?✏✂(Click on the link to Fabulous online in my profile to read it!) . I’m so pleased to share what we’ve been up to and hopefully reassure parents that what they’re managing to do in these tricky times is amazing ?? Well done to all the parents who have made it through this first term! ? We’ve adapted and amended things as we’ve gone on and now we are working to this new schedule, which includes Joe’s workouts and we also now use the afternoon session for practical activities / fun / baking etc as I really want the children to look back on it as a fun family time too – as crazy as it is, the positive is that we’ve all got loads of family time together without lots of the pressures and stresses of our usual busy lives to worry about. Enjoy the holidays and let your children rest and recharge ready for our second term of homeschooling! ??? . . . . #homeschool #homeschoollife #homeschooling #homeschooltimetable #timetable #teachingtimetable #keystage2 #juniorschool #myhousethismonth #diningtable #homework #familylife #mumlife #motherhoodunplugged #motherhood #motherhoodthroughinstagram #mothering #parentingthroughinstagram #styleithappy #storyofmyhome #teachers #parentinghacks #openplanliving #myvintageabode #edwardianhouse #styleithappy #showmehowyoushine #spotlightonmyhome #mycreativeinterior #mygorgeousgaff

She makes sure that the clothes for the next morning are taken out beforehand considering that there’s no turning back if the day kicks off in pajamas. Besides this, she also gives them an hour of schoolwork where she makes them write 3 good things and also draw a picture of them. This is for their handwriting practice. Helen’s eldest one gets his daily schedule from the schools via emails. While with Orlando and Florence she uses the aid of the internet to make them practice a worksheet or something like that.

The cute little twins love the star marks and smiley faces that they receive on their notebooks, while Leo’s incentive is to have an hour off early if he finishes all his tasks right in the morning. Besides this, the perfectionist mother also ensures that the kids learn some other skills as well, such as basic cooking, cleaning, gardening, etc. Helen makes it a point that the kids do not spend all day studying and gives them a fair share of fun time as well but is also watchful of their screen time.

Her 46-year-old husband Chinzi who’s a self-employed roofer too helps with the tasks by taking care of one of the twins when needed. During Easter, the family plans to give the school thing a break and completely enjoy their mini-vacation. Additionally, Helen is also trying to make a scrapbook out of these days as a memory. The nice lady has also offered to share some tips with the parents who are struggling to teach their kids at home.

So if you need any guidance, we are sure Helen would be more than happy to help you!
