Parents use boy’s name for daughter since people think she’s one

A mother is all worked up since people get confused over her baby’s gender and keep referring to her little girl as a boy. She took to TikTok to clear up the confusion about the same. Not only this, she has resorted to using a boy’s name for her daughter since people kept mistaking her for one.

Sierra was so tired of hearing people call her daughter a boy that she came up with a nickname for her little one to be used when they’re out. With the TikTok username @lewwnilewwni, Sierra shared this problem of hers on the platform. She also revealed that her daughter’s name is Swae Nomi. She mentioned that since her toddler doesn’t like to wear bows or headbands, strangers often mistake her for a boy. This was the reason why the woman came up with the nickname ‘Earl’ for her daughter.

Sierra cleared up the confusion about this issue in a video that has now gone viral on the app. She mentioned in the video that people are confused whether her little one is a girl or a boy. She also added that there’s also confusion about the child’s actual name. Before clearing up any doubts, she is seen introducing herself in the video as the mother of the child, mostly known by the name Lewwni. While talking about her baby girl, she said: “This is Swae. She is a girl. Her real birth name, the name I gave her after I hatched her, was Swae Nomi.”

She then added that Swae’s nickname is ‘Earl’ and explained how she decided to give her that. She said: “She doesn’t really keep bows or things on her head so we just didn’t put them on her. And when we go out people would be like, ‘He is so cute!’ And we got tired of correcting them so we just came up with the name Earl. So, we’d be like, ‘That’s our Earl, that’s our Earl boy.’”

The video has received more than 800,000 likes and over 4,100 comments since the time it was uploaded. While some users found the name ‘the cutest they’ve ever heard,’ others couldn’t help but share their confusion. One person commented that to them, the toddler’s full name would always be Swae Earl Swearl. Another one wrote, “Yep, that’s our Earl…It’s short for girl.” A third person commented that it was the best explanation of a baby’s nickname that they’d ever heard.

A person wrote that Swae Nomi was the cutest name that they’d ever heard in their life. One person, who’d also experienced something similar to this with their kid commented, “My daughter always got called a boy, there’s no point in correcting strangers (in my opinion) so I get it.” Another TikTok user revealed a similar story about themselves. They wrote: “As a baby, I had no hair for so long and so many people would tell my parents ‘he’s so cute’ and so after a while, they’d say ‘thanks his name is Alex.’”
