Mum Asks Guests To Pay £25 For Attending Her Kid’s Birthday Party And The People Are Enraged At Her

Parenting July, 15, 2025

You must have attended quite a few birthday parties and even hosted a few for your kids, but we bet you haven’t ever been told to pay for attending one. It is unconventional and not something one would expect out of an invite!

All that the kids care about during a birthday event is cake, dancing, pretty dresses and balloons. Wait, did we mention cake? Yes, there needs to be a lot of that!

All the parents have different ways to plan the entire event. The ones who can afford, go big with the decorations and food, while others prefer it on a small-scale.

The number of guests is decided based on the budget and parents are the ones deciding that (of course!). Parents do try to fit in everything, but we all know it gets hard to foot the bill.

This mom came up with a weird plan for her kid’s birthday and her plan was revealed by another mum whose daughter was invited. This mum wrote on the parenting forum about this strange invitation she received.

Her 10-year-old daughter was invited to a friend’s birthday party. She was told about the part just two days before the event which was much less weird than the other part of the call.

When the mom agreed to attend the party, she was told that she would have to pay a certain amount for being a “guest”. On further discussion, she came to know that the price was £25 (almost $32). Yes, it is shocking!

Who pays money to attend a kid’s birthday party? We guess the times are changing this way!

Apart from the “fees”, she was also expected to give a gift to the child. Things got really uncomfortable and strange. There was nothing that felt like a party anymore!

The frustrated mom wrote on the forum, “If I couldn’t afford for her to do something with that many friends we wouldn’t do it or we’d cut the guest list down.”

There is no point inviting so many guests if one cannot pay for all the arrangements for all. This is what everyone who read the post commented.

One of the users wrote, “I’d be p***** off. The parents throwing the party should pay, and tbh it seems like your daughter is only a last minute invite, to make up numbers.”

No one was convinced by this idea of paying money to attend a party. It just sounds ridiculous!

We hope that the mom changed her mind and threw a happy party for her child without asking for money from the guests. Parties are happy events for a reason!
