Kim Kardashian admits that co-parenting with Ye is "difficult," as she bursts into tears.

Kim Kardashian has had to walk a fine line between divorce and co-parenting.

Kardashian spoke openly about her split husband Ye, then known as Kanye West, and the difficulties of co-parenting their four children: North, 9; Saint, 7; Chicago, 4; and Psalm, 3, during an appearance on Angie Martinez's "Angie Martinez IRL" podcast, uploaded on Monday on YouTube.

"It will always follow me," Kardashian remarked of the public debate about her divorce from Ye, which the couple announced in February 2021.

Martinez questioned the Skims creator whether it was a "deliberate thing" for her to avoid openly disclosing her divorce and connection with her children's father to "shield" them.

"I certainly shielded him, and I will continue to do so in the eyes of my kids and for my kids," Kardashian said, referring to hiding her children from what Ye has written about her on social media. "My children are unaware of what is happening around them in the outside world."

"I've done it, and I'm hanging on by a thread," she continued. "I will defend it to the end of the world for as long as possible."

Ye took to social media early this year to lash out at Kardashian, her family, and her then-boyfriend Pete Davidson. He also complained about not being able to make crucial parenting decisions.

Kardashian claimed on Monday's podcast that her children "do not know anything," but because close friends of hers are teachers at their school, she is aware of "what goes on" and "the things spoken often."

"If we're riding to school and they want to listen to their dad's music, no matter what we're going through, no matter what's going on in the world, I have to smile and blast his music and sing along with my kids and pretend like nothing's wrong," she continued.

"I'll have a good weep as soon as I drop them off."

Kardashian, the daughter of divorced parents Kris Jenner and the late Robert Kardashian, cried as she recounted having "the finest dad" growing up.

"I'm not trying to be dramatic; it's simply been a day for me," she explained. "It's difficult, you know. Co-parenting is difficult. It's really (expletive) difficult. But I had the finest father and the best memories and experiences. It is all I want for my children. I would desire that for them as long as they can."

Kardashian and Ye struck a divorce deal in November, postponing a trial scheduled for this month. The former couple and their attorneys filed filings seeking a court to approve the parameters they had agreed on, which included Ye paying Kardashian $200,000 per month in child support.

According to Los Angeles Superior Court records, the two will have shared custody, and neither will pay the other spousal support. The settlement agreement also specifies that the two would evenly share the children's private security and education costs, including college.

According to the agreement, they will each pay their obligations. The couple had a pre-nuptial agreement and kept their assets primarily separate.

At Kardashian's request, a judge declared the two legally single in March, terminating their eight-year marriage. Still to be resolved are property and custody concerns in a trial beginning December 14.
