Entrepreneur From Ghana Launches Skincare Line Which Employs Marginalized African Women

Lifestyle July, 08, 2025

Great-grandmother recovered using traditional natural treatment in her native Ghana West Africa. Women of all ages use natural ingredients from there for glowing skin. The area was rich in nutrients and beneficial properties that are now found in skincare products all over the world.

Margaret Ackah-Yensu a beauty expert who studied in Britain and is actually from West Africa has been changed by these moments. Margaret was raised in Britain after being born in West Africa. She openly represents the culture of her nation with her brand-new all-natural skincare business named Tulii Skincare. Margaret and Tulii with their homeopathic nature based on deep scientific research are changing the cosmetics industry.

Margaret has always been interested in having good skin. When she was fifteen she remembers searching through a magazine and seeing an image of a lady getting facials. She showed her father the photo and said “This is what I want to do in my life”. Her parents were hard-working people therefore they supported her unique job choice. At sixteen Margaret moved out of Ghana to England to study more about beauty.

To start her professional journey she moved to New York after graduation. One of the top modeling agencies in the world Elite fell in love with her looks when she went to New York. However what has been defined as the health/well-being point of view on beauty would be the draw for her to follow a particular route. After graduating from NYU Margaret began creating an idea for the use of natural oils in beauty products. She started recording every possibility on an ingredients spreadsheet.

Rose Aziz Co-Founder Tulii Skincare

Rose Aziz a skincare specialist scientist and trained in the United States and Margaret are the co-founders of Tulii Skincare. Rose's creative and highly scientific clinical view matches perfectly Margaret's bold business mentality. Together the two communicate Tulii's strong dedication to economic growth that is environmentally friendly social opinions and the worldwide empowerment of women.

It was only when a friend connected her to Rose who has links to the history and culture of Africa that it took away. After flying to Tanzania and using the Moringa tree that Rose worked on to lose themselves in skincare products made from trees the two fell in love with the nation. After coming back to the US the two worked together as partners.

Tulip is a representation of Margaret’s nearly two decades of skincare knowledge in the wellness health and cosmetics sectors. Tulii employs a large number of discriminated women from poor areas of Tanzanian background and actively supports small local companies.

Tulii provides them with an affordable cost to cultivate the crop and extract oil after which a long-term job connection is established to provide these economically disadvantaged women with support through empowerment and education.

Situated in the center of Tulii lies the Moringa tree often known as the “Tree of Life”. The very old moringa tree is commonly known. It is an amazing plant. The tree is a storehouse of vitamins. It contains proteins. It is rich in antioxidants. These nutrients help in preventing aging. Tulii is the only product available on the market that uses these powerful leaves.

It is the only plant whose leaves contain amino acids. Tulii which was introduced on the market in 2018 has shown excitement in the beauty industry. This is Margaret’s long dream which came true after a long time. Margaret and I had talked in a coffee about her business and the message she wanted to share with the world.

Tell us about growing up in Ghana and how you made the leap to the UK and the US.

I come from a country where people are still connected to nature. They are in a symbiotic relationship with nature around them. We are indeed dependent on the natural world for our well-being and strength. We think ourselves to be the guardians of this huge resource found in the area where we live.

Growing up in Ghana I observed personally how my grandmother and grandaunt used natural herbs and oils for health and well-being. This atmosphere encouraged a connection to nature on a personal level. It also sparked curiosity in the outside world particularly in the area of how different cultures see and express health and healing. My plan to deepen my knowledge in beauty therapy originated from my early migration to the UK. I decided to pursue a course in this particular area.

I was infected with natural treatments in Ghana and my schooling provided me with challenging scientific roots in skincare and its interconnections. when did you start loving makeup and skincare? This love and desire in me came from my culture and upbringing.

Taking care of your skin is just as important as your overall health and well-being. Like your heart your skin requires care for your health and well-being. And that seems so basic to me. You launched a skincare company in the autumn of 2018 that you co-founded with your partner.

Can you tell us a little about Tulii and where these products can be found?

It has taken many years to develop the product line experiencing research and testing along the way. Even though it has only recently been introduced it now offers multiple variations and has reached the most advanced level of performance. We decided to launch Tulii at that point. Right now we use a few different third-party e-commerce websites to offer the products directly to customers online. Hopefully in 2019 we will be able to have our products in some stores.

How did you meet Rose your co-founder? What made both of you a good fit with her background?

One of our mutual contacts introduced me to Rose Aziz. he is now my business partner. As we share the same interests and come from the same background he thought of introducing us. She came to the U.S. for college but originally he is from Tanzania. In biochemistry and an MBA she had an undergraduate degree. Before returning to her home country Tanzania she had spent years working for large cosmetic companies. Now she is pursuing a career in natural skincare products which she has passion from a long time.
