Dad Created Hide-and-Seek Game on London Underground for Son’s Birthday Gift
Without a doubt, a dad can do anything for his son’s happiness. Recently, 29-year-old Charlie Maguire has been regarded as a super dad as he designed a unique hide and seek game on the London Underground for his son’s birthday gift who happens to be a train-obsessed autistic.
Telling about his son, Charlie said that Harrison who is 9-year-old is obsessed with trains. On being asked what does he wants for his 10th birthday, irrespective of anything that he could have asked for, he wanted a train ride. As Charlie was determined to make his son happy, he created an interesting hide and seek game including clues on the London Underground.
Revealing the gift, Charlie said that he spent days determined to create the game which involved searching for clues from station to station which was interesting for Harrison as he is good with geography. The team set off from Rainham which was close to Charlie’s and Harrison’s home as he stays at a different place along with his mother.
Disclosing about the game, Charlie told that the first stoppage was East London’s West Ham where Charlie reached early and gave the staff the first clue. When Harrison reached there, he was asked the clue question that what he would use to wrap a birthday gift as well as what cars drive on, answering the question led them to Bow Road. On answering further questions Harrison was given clues that led him to stations like London Bridge, Canary Wharf, Tower Hill, Victoria Holborn, and Tottenham Court Road.
Sharing more about it, Charlie said that the entire clue-based game enhanced his son’s confidence and helped him heal his autism a bit. He shared that his son faced problems at school due to Autism but recently he was improving and it was amazing for him to know that his son now knows the capital of each country. Charlie further shared that they travel a lot and two years ago they went to Disneyland Paris where they experienced a double-decker train.
Re-living the experience, Charlie said that the game made his kid feel more independent as he navigated from station to station and led the pair, about which he felt extremely happy. To spend the rest of the day, the pair had their lunch at Canary Wharf and later had their dinner along with Harrison’s stepmother. Along with the unique game, Harrison also got a canvas that showcased all underground stations that the pair had been through as a birthday gift.
Fortunately, the super dad was happy as his kid liked the gifts and sleeps along with the canvas each night. He added, “Kids are seen on their phones nowadays and I try to do the opposite for my child, I take him away once or twice a year.” About his kid’s autism, Charlie said that he is improving and his mother put him into boxing classes which made him confident about himself. He continued that Harrison is slowly coming out of his shell. Charlie felt that he wanted to give the world to his child as during his childhood he grew up without a father.
