The popularity of robot vacuums has risen dramatically in recent years, and there are several low-cost models available. Roborock is glad to provide high-end vacuums like the new Roborock S7 to customers who are willing to pay a premium price for a superior vacuum that saves them time. With its mopping, zone-cleaning, and smart assistant integration, the Roborock S7 is the ultimate robot vacuum. Although it excels in the fundamentals, possesses a wealth of knowledge, and outperforms the competition thanks to its ground-breaking sonic mop, it costs $650. As long as you can afford it and despise performing chores, the S7 is a terrific vacuum.

Setting up the Roborock S7+ app

The Roborock S7 Setup +'s is rather straightforward. Start by installing the app and logging in or establishing a new profile. Select the button to add a new device, choose the vacuum, and follow the onscreen instructions. Only a small portion of the procedure is hampered by the need to connect to your Robot's Wi-Fi network, which may not always function. It was OK for me, though.

This program, Roborock, is excellent. One of my Roborock vacuums is in my workplace, while the other is at home. It's simple to flip back and forth between the two and add more if necessary.

Changing vacuum settings, seeing the vacuum map, and other options are all simple when you only have one vacuum. Quickly sanitize a tiny area of your home with the help of this app. A room-wide cleaning option is also available. Automatic carpet detection is also an option, so you can choose exactly where the vacuum should mop and suction.

The software is well-designed, however some options may be difficult to discover. As a result, it has a wide range of options. It's possible to schedule cleanings, use a remote control to operate the vacuum, and examine a history of cleanings. Maintenance schedules are also provided via the app, so you'll always know when to replace items like brushes, filters and mop heads.

An in-depth look at the design of the Roborock S7+

The Roborock S7+ has a familiar look to it if you've ever seen a robotic vacuum before. Round and about 13.8 inches broad, the vacuum is around 3.8 inches tall. It's a little bigger than some other robotic vacuums, but it's still not too big.

Roborock S7+ comes in black and white, both of which look good on the device. We're looking at the white model, which is good, but the black model would have been preferable since it would have been more subdued.

You'll find three buttons at the top of the gadget. An on/off switch is included on the power button, which may be pressed once to clean the vacuum and held down to power the device on/off. A dock button is also included for returning the vacuum to the dock. In general, I resorted to using the app's controls rather than the ones on the device itself since they were more intuitive.

Then there's the pier, too. Roborock's Auto Empty Dock is included with the Roborock S7+. It features a huge dust bin that can hold a lot more dust than the vacuum cleaner itself. Vacuum dust will be sucked into the dock and held there until you remove the vacuum and empty it. I didn't have to empty the dock once during the evaluation time. It should be able to withstand regular use for at least a few weeks. However, it's a great perk, but it may not be essential for everyone, considering the $300 price tag. As a result, you'll need to locate a place for it in your home that can accommodate it.

You'll have to remove some of the vacuum's attachments and components from time to time. Additionally, there is a dust container located beneath a hatch on the vacuum's rear that is simple to empty. Additionally, the mop pad and the water tank are included. For the first time in a robotic vacuum, the Roborock S7+ has the ability to elevate the mop pad, allowing you to keep it attached to the vacuum at all times.

What's in the box: design, hardware, and software

The Roborock S7+ looks like it belongs on a starship, like something out of Star Trek. The tactile buttons are flanked by a flashing LED strip on the device's enormous puck-shaped body. The red accent on the white S7+ makes it look like something from the future, but you can also get it in black.

Premium hardware features were included in the S7. For example, it has a top-mounted LIDAR sensor that helps it recognize barriers and navigate through your home. An ultrasonic sensor located on the left side of the front tire helps it discern whether the floor is carpeted or hard. The side brush and the main roller are made of finned silicone instead of bristles. The mop pad and VibraRise bracket are the hardware's most impressive features, but we'll get to those in a moment. It contains sensors on its bottom edges that prevent it from slipping over a ledge, like the Deebot N79S.

The backside of the vacuum has a cover that lifts to show a 470mL dustbin and a washable air filter. Even though the bin's capacity is less than the S6 MaxV's 480mL, it is compatible with the auto-empty dock. After a full cycle, the bin doesn't release any dust, and it firmly fits into the S7's compartment. From behind the robot, the water tank holds around 300 mL, which is enough to clean an area of 2,150 square feet.

S7 includes a charging station, dustbin and instructions and warranty card with the phone. You won't find any replacement brushes or other accessories in the box.

Specs and Pricing for the Roborock S7+

Self-emptying bases are not required for the Roborock S7, however the Roborock S7+ kit we tested includes both the Roborock S7 and the dock. Both goods are also available for purchase separately. To purchase the S7+ on its own for $649.99, you get a basic base station. The docking station with an auto-empty feature costs $299.00. The pricing is the same whether you buy the bundle or each component separately.

Although the S7+ bundle comes with the auto-empty dock (not the normal base station), you may wish to purchase them separately so you have both docks. The main drawback of purchasing them separately is that the robot's air intake cover must be removed in order to transfer from the conventional base station to the auto-empty dock. As I explain in more detail later, this isn't difficult, but it does need an additional step in the setup procedure.

The auto-empty dock is not required to purchase the Roborock S7.

Vacuuming

The Roborock S7+ performs an excellent job cleaning my floors once it has finished creating its map. It moves in a logical sequence, starting in the kitchen and working its way through the rest of the house. Despite the fact that it lacked a camera array like the S6 MaxV, its navigation was flawless because of its strong 2,500 Pa engine. In its "balanced" cleaning mode, the S7+ emits around 68 dB of noise. Despite the fact that it doesn't sound like a regular vacuum cleaner, it isn't completely silent either. Quiet mode exists if the presets are too loud for you.

There are no bristles on the S7+ 's primary brush. Roborock created it. The new brush, according to the manufacturer, is more robust, better at agitating dirt, and less prone to tangle hair. The S7's trashcan was cleared of coffee grinds, bird seed, and grime with ease in my testing. On the other hand, my Wyze vacuum's bristle brush had no problem picking up dog hair on the carpet. Although this was the case, very little was adhered to the roller, saving me the trouble of having to remove it.

Mopping

The Roborock S7+ 's sonic mop is its distinguishing feature, and it represents a major improvement over the S6 MaxV. The mop bracket is vibrated up to 3,000 times per minute in a tight Z pattern using the same principle as an electric toothbrush. My kitchen floor was spotless after using it on the highest setting to remove crusted coffee stains and grease. If you don't have the time or patience to clean your floors manually, then this is a great alternative.

Vacuuming and mopping at the same time saves me more time than doing them individually. My only gripe is that the vacuum keeps its mop down while it cleans the margins of my hallway's tuck-in carpet, which I find annoying. Several times, the mop attachment became tangled in the margins of my area rug.

As a result of the S7+ s VibraRise technology, carpeted regions are kept dry. In comparison to the S6 MaxV, its carpet detection is faultless and does not leave wet marks on my floor. However, thick-pile rugs and doormats will still become wet. A no-go zone should be added to certain locations to spare you the trouble of drying them.

CONCLUSION

The Roborock S7+ is a fantastic robot vacuum cleaner. For the great majority of simple cleaning activities, it's more than adequate in terms of power. And because of the scheduling options, it's easy to include into your cleaning regimen. Most other robotic vacuums require more human engagement than this one does because of the elevated mop pad.

The Roborock S7 is a viable alternative to the S7+. A lack of a dust bin in the charging dock means that you'll have to empty the vacuum's dust bin more regularly. However, you'll save $300 in the process. Aside from the fact that an external dust bin is quite convenient, it's not a bad idea to spend the extra money on it.

In the end, the Roborock S7 and S7+ vacuums are the best all-in-one vacuums on the market. Even if you don't require mopping, the Roborock S4 still has amazing vacuuming capabilities, so it's worth considering.
