A Reddit user named Ursula took to Reddit’s NameNerds forum to pour out her grief over her name. She does not like it as it takes after the sea-dwelling witch from Disney's The Little Mermaid. Therefore she wanted Reddit users to suggest a better nickname for her. To her delight many users came up with their fancy name suggestions.

Naming a baby is no less than an arduous task. Parents have to take utmost care while naming their babies. A miss on their part can cost their baby dearly in the future. Thankfully most parents understand that. Therefore they put in their best to bestow their baby with a beautiful name. Not just that many people have also come up to make money on that note. They earn their living by suggesting fancy baby names. However not all people are lucky when it comes to their name. A Reddit user named Ursula is one of them.

A name defines one. It also goes a long way in varnishing one’s personality. After all an individual secures a unique identity in the crowded world with their name. But names also have their meaning and associations. A bad association is enough to ruin one’s life. Ursula also shares a similar fate. Her name derives from the Latin word Ursa. It refers to a little bear. Therefore Ursula means she-bear. Till this everything seems to be fine with the name.

But it takes a worse turn when one venture into the Disney world. It goes to the sea-dwelling witch from Disney's The Little Mermaid. Therefore the woman has a valid reason to cry over her name. She wanted a prettier nick name. Taking on that part she turned to Reddit. She poured her heart out on Reddit’s NameNerds Forum. Not just that she also looked forward to nickname suggestions.

Taking on that note she wrote “My name is Ursula. I really hate it... I want to find a nickname for it besides Uschi or Sully. Something that's pretty sounding and but maybe not too young? I'm thinking Ulla might be nice it kind of sounds like Ella but then I feel like people will mispronounce it a lot/think it's too weird. Suggestions?”

Well to her delight her post managed to win attention. Many social media users turned up to share their suggestions. A few of them turned the focus to the middle name. According to them she could use her middle name to make it better. One user commented “Would you prefer going by your middle name? Lots of people naturally transition to using it if their first name just doesn't feel right.”

Another user traced her name to the iconic show Friends. Building on that part they said “Wasn't the name of Phoebe's sister (on Friends) Ursula? Maybe your nickname should be Phoebe the good sister lol.”

Then came a genuine suggestion. A third user wrote “How about just go by the end of your name- Ula? (Ooh-la) I know a woman with this name and I think it’s really simple and pretty.” Taking it forward another user said “Have you considered Susie? It’s pretty classic/timeless. The su sounds aren’t quite the same but I feel like you could get away with it. Ulla is nice too! It’s something different in a sea of Ellas.”

Thus the woman was full of suggestions. She could pick her favorite and don it with pride. But Ursula still looks good for one who is not a die-hard Disney fan. What do you think?
