A loss-yielding motherly love
An anonymous man poured out his anger on the Reddit platform by sharing his sad story. He had appeared for the interview for his dream job and was waiting for a reply. After getting no intimation, he accepted it and moved on. But he came to know that his mother rejected the job on his behalf and lied to him.
It is hard nut to crack for one to secure a dream job. One has to go through many ups and downs to land at the right place at the right time in the job market. The burgeoning competition in the market also adds to the struggle involved. Thus, it is not surprising for one to strike on failed attempts. However, one may end up in a shocking situation if one loses the job because of one’s dear one. An anonymous man went through a similar emotional breakdown after losing his job.
The man was all up to kick off his professional career. He also appeared for the interview for his dream job. Having expectations from it, he was waiting for their response. To his dismay, he did not hear from them. Finally, he accepted his failure and decided to move on. Relieving his mind, he talked to his father about the available job opportunities. Then his father told him that he had got the previous job. Not just that, he also told him that his mother had got a call from the company a few days ago. The conversation thus amazed him.
Looking for a way out of the confusion, he called his mother. After confronting her, she admitted to have rejected the offer on his behalf. Not just that, she also went ahead to justify her move. She told him that she did not want him to move away from his home. The revelation infuriated him. He stopped talking to his mother. Adding to that, he also went ahead to share his story on Reddit.
Taking on that part, he said, “After not hearing back from them, I assumed I didn’t get the job and while disappointed I decided to move on and focus on college. I called my dad a couple of days ago and we got chatting about jobs and I told him how I moved on from the job, to which he responded 'but you got the job didn’t you?'”
Adding to that, he said, “I didn’t say anything to my dad and I hung up a few minutes later to call my mum. Very angrily I confronted her and she admitted that she turned down the offer on my behalf because she didn’t want me to leave.” He also informed the readers about the silence between him and his mother by saying, “I completely blew up at her and we haven’t spoken since. My dad’s asked me to reach out to her as he thinks it’s time to forgive her but I’m still really angry.”
And many users came out in support of the man. One user commented, “Try calling the company and explaining what happened, see if they'll give you a chance.” Another user said, “She had no right to make that decision for you. It's you who applied, and you who interviewed. I'd be p****d, too.” One person said, “She lied to your employer in order to keep you close, but pushed you further away at the same time. This was nothing she had a choice in or control over.”
Thus, many people felt his anger justified. Hopefully, the man would have managed to get out of it.
